If there will be an animal hailed as the most beneficial creature to men, horses will win the contest – even if the competition is never a race. From the ancient times up to this modern day, horses remain to be one of the most dependable animals that man has ever learned to domesticate.

In the olden times, a horse was the primary mode of transportation. Men ride horses to travel to different cities and across the borders. But more than that, horses give men stature, prominence, and pride. Car and planes have long replaced them. But that didn’t stop the equestrians and the jockeys to train horses for speed, obedience, and performance. And those are the three traits that make horses different from all the animals.

In many places around the world, horses are still used as beasts of burden. Some use them for agricultural work while others utilize them for business purposes. Horses can be rightfully referred to as man’s other best friend. Dogs beat horses just by the skin of their nose simply because they are comparatively easier to take care of.

In this beautiful painting of a Gypsy and two horses by Caryl Jean Westergren, the horses were depicted in their most natural form. They are standing across each other while a Gypsy woman is sitting in the carriage, looking over at them. The Gypsy seems to be taking a rest while the horses are playing with each other. It’s time for frolic for indeed - a short moment to forget all about travelling and the hard work to stop by and relax; probably to enjoy the wind blowing from the river.

If two horses are all you have, just like the Gypsy in this painting, you will also sit as contentedly as she did; confident that you’ll soon reach your destination.
